State Cup Finals Results
Rush Pikes Peak qualified 2 teams for the CYS State Cup Championship games played this past weekend at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. In the first game, our U13 Nike Boys faced off against longtime rival Arsenal Gold from Fort Collins. After some early chances for the Rush boys, the first half ended 0-0. With 15 minutes remaining Arsenal was finally able to break the deadlock with a nice counterattack and finish. The Rush boys pushed forward and looked for the equalizer, but conceded a second goal with just minutes left to play. Congratulations go out to the boys and their coaches Nik Penn and Bill Tibbett for their great Cup run. Ryan Moldenhauer was named MVP for his efforts in goal, conceding only 4 goals during the entire tournament (2 of which were PKs). Well done boys!
In the second game of the day, our U17 Nike Boys squared off against cross-town rivals Pride Predators. After conceding two early goals (as they have seemed to make a habit of) the boys battled back scoring 2 penalties to send the game into extra time. Luck was not on their side however, as they conceded a penalty and received a red card in the 2nd minute of the first overtime period to go down 3-2. Pride quickly scored another goal as they took advantage of playing a man up. The Nike boys battled as hard as they could, but couldn't find a way back as the game ended in a 4-2 defeat. Congratulations to the boys and to coach Espen Hosoien for their efforts in making this Cup run. Garrett Fritzsche received the MVP award for the Rush Pikes Peak team.
Congratulations to all of our players and coaches for their great Cup seasons. We are all very proud of you here at Rush Pikes Peak!
